The mission of VCAS is to inform and educate Ventura County residents about astronomy and to promote interest in, and encourage participation in, astronomy as a hobby.

Our History

  • 1960s – Founded as the “Oxnard Model Rocket and Astronomy Club”
  • 1968-1970 – Transitioned to the “Ventura County Astronomy Association”
  • 1971 – Officially became the “Ventura County Astronomical Society”
  • 2021 – Celebrated our 50th anniversary!
